Today was the first day of 2014 and it didn’t start overly well. I’d had a bit too much to drink on New Year’s Eve and was feeling insanely seedy. I was grumpy. I had a headache and my body was really sore. I wasn’t overly excited about my day. About having to get out of bed to go babysit for my mum. I didn’t even do my hair and make up. But on the first day of the year I’m determined to keep a positive outlook. I choose today’s quote because it doesn’t have to be a huge life statement, it can be applied to daily life.

I can write my day in a negative:

- I feel hung over and seedy
- I was so out of it I didn’t do my hair or make up
- I had to babysit while I was hung over
- I feel lonely

Or I can change it around and focus on the positives:

- I went out and beat my social anxiety last night
- I gave my skin a break from make up
- I got to spend time with my two favourite little people and see my mum
- I took myself on a movie date and saw the hobbit
- awesome night time Kmart adventures were had

Whether things are positive or negative has a lot to do with our perspective and attitude towards the situation. You can change your outlook to a positive one, just start small.
